Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 8 July 2026
Last updated: 8 July 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Cocktail & Book Club (“Cocktail & Book Club”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a lifestyle and community platform founded by Alex Latte and operated by ALEX LATTE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13129331 (the “Company”).
These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Cocktail & Book Club mobile application (the “App”), our website at cocktailandbookclub.com (the “Website”), our membership tiers, and any events, content, features or services we make available (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing to a paid tier, attending our events, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and explains how we collect and use your personal information.
2. About Cocktail & Book Club
Cocktail & Book Club is a lifestyle and community platform. Books are our entry point into a wider experience that spans culture, community, events and shared discovery. The word “Cocktail” in our name is part of our brand identity. It does not mean that we sell, serve or supply alcohol through the App or Website, and nothing in the Service should be taken as an offer to do so.
The Service includes a free membership tier and a paid membership tier, together with community features such as posts, comments, reactions, reading tools, polls and, from time to time, in-person and online events.
3. Eligibility
The Service is intended only for individuals aged 18 years or older. By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We may ask you to verify your age at any time and may suspend or close any account where we reasonably believe this requirement is not met.
4. Your Account
To access most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information, to keep it up to date, and to keep your login details confidential. You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account. Please notify us promptly at read@cocktailandbookclub.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
Deleting your account
You may delete your account and associated data at any time directly within the App, through the account settings screen, and on the Website. Deleting your account will end your access to member features. Where you hold a paid subscription, please see the sections on cancellation and refunds below, as deleting the App alone does not cancel a subscription. We may retain limited information after deletion where we are required to do so by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Membership Tiers
We offer two membership tiers:
-
The Club: a free tier, available worldwide, that gives you access to our community and a core set of features, including a reading tracker and participation in the Book of the Month poll.
-
The Inner Circle: a paid tier that unlocks additional features. It is available in two forms: a digital premium membership available worldwide, and the full Inner Circle, available in the United Kingdom only, which adds a book posted to a United Kingdom address each month alongside the digital premium features.
We may add, change, or remove features within either tier from time to time. Where a change materially reduces the benefits of a paid tier, we will give you reasonable notice and, where required, the ability to cancel.
6. Subscriptions, Billing and Payment
The Inner Circle is a paid subscription that renews automatically until cancelled. The prices and available billing periods are shown at the point of purchase. As a guide, at the date of these Terms the digital premium membership is £4.99 per month and is available worldwide, and the full Inner Circle, which adds the book posted to you each month, is £15 per month plus £3 shipping each month and is available in the United Kingdom only. Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise, and we may change our prices from time to time, in which case we will give you reasonable notice before the change takes effect on your next renewal.
How subscriptions are purchased and managed
Inner Circle subscriptions are purchased and managed through our Website and are processed on our behalf by our payment provider, Stripe. They are not sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and payment is not taken through the App or the app stores. Because of this, your subscription, including renewals, billing, cancellation and any refunds, is handled by us directly under these Terms and is not managed by Apple or Google.
The App is free to download. Inner Circle features are unlocked only for accounts that already hold an active subscription purchased through our Website. To start, change or cancel a paid subscription, please visit your account on our Website.
Introductory and promotional offers
From time to time we may offer introductory or promotional pricing, for example a reduced rate for an initial period or a discount code. Any such offer applies only for the period and on the conditions stated at the time, after which the standard price applies. Offers cannot be combined unless we say so, and we may withdraw or change an offer at any time before you take it up.
Automatic renewal
Your subscription will renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, using your saved payment method, unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorise us and our payment provider to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
If a payment fails, we may retry the payment and may suspend or downgrade your access to Inner Circle features until payment is successfully made.
7. Physical Goods and Delivery
The full Inner Circle includes a book posted to you each month, in addition to the digital premium features. The following terms apply to physical goods in addition to the general subscription terms above.
-
United Kingdom only. The physical Inner Circle is available only to members with a valid delivery address in the United Kingdom. You must provide a complete and accurate delivery address at sign-up and keep it up to date. We are not responsible for items that fail to arrive, are delayed, or are delivered incorrectly as a result of an address that is incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.
-
Book selection. The book included each month is selected at our discretion. We do not guarantee that any particular title, edition, format or author will be included, and selections may vary between members and between months.
-
Dispatch and timing. We aim to dispatch each month’s book within a reasonable period, but dispatch and delivery dates are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Delivery is carried out by third-party postal and courier services whose performance is outside our control.
-
Risk and delays. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss, delay, damage in transit, or non-delivery caused by the postal or courier service, by events outside our reasonable control, or by an incorrect or incomplete delivery address you have provided.
-
Missed or missing deliveries. If a book does not arrive, please contact us at read@cocktailandbookclub.com within a reasonable period so that we can investigate. Where a book is lost in transit through no fault of yours, we will at our discretion arrange a replacement or a credit. This does not affect your statutory rights.
-
Changes to a subscription mid-cycle. If you upgrade, downgrade or cancel during a billing period, any book already dispatched or prepared for dispatch for that period may still be sent, and your digital access will continue as set out in the cancellation section below.
-
Other physical products. We may also make other physical products available to purchase from time to time through our Website. Any such purchase is made and paid for on the Website, and the delivery, risk and cancellation terms in this section apply to those products as well.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your Inner Circle subscription at any time through your account on our Website. When you cancel, your subscription will remain active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and it will not renew after that. For the physical Inner Circle, this means you may receive the book for the period you have already paid for, after which no further books will be sent.
Where you are a consumer, you may have a legal right to cancel certain purchases within a short period after purchase under applicable United Kingdom consumer law, and to a refund in the circumstances that law provides. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits those rights. Where you have a statutory right to a refund, we will provide it as required by law.
Outside your statutory rights, subscription fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has begun, including for periods during which you did not use the Service. We may, at our discretion, offer a refund or credit in individual cases, and doing so does not oblige us to do so again.
9. User Content and Community
The Service lets you post content, including text posts, comments, reactions, images you upload, and animated images (“User Content”). You remain the owner of your User Content. By posting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and adapt that content for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the Service. This licence ends when you delete the relevant User Content or your account, except where the content has been shared with others who have not deleted it, or where we must retain it to comply with a legal obligation.
You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to any User Content you post, and that it does not infringe the rights of any other person. You are solely responsible for your User Content.
10. Acceptable Use and Conduct
We want the community to feel welcoming and safe, both online and in person. You agree not to:
-
Behave in a way that is harassing, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, hateful or otherwise inappropriate towards others.
-
Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, infringing, misleading, or that you do not have the right to share.
-
Share other members’ personal information or private stories shared within the community without their consent. Information and stories shared within the community should be treated as confidential.
-
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, interfere with its operation, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
We may remove any User Content, and suspend or close any account, where we reasonably consider that these Terms have been breached or where it is necessary to protect the Service or its members. Where practical and appropriate, we will let you know.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on the Service. By agreeing to these Terms, you agree that you will not post, share, or send content that is harassing, abusive, threatening, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable, and that you will not behave abusively towards other members. You understand that any member can report content or block another member from within the app, and that we review reports within 24 hours. If you post objectionable content or behave abusively, we may remove your content and suspend or terminate your account without notice.

11. Events
From time to time we host or take part in events, online or in person. Events may be free or ticketed, and may require pre-registration for reasons of capacity and safety. We may refuse or cancel a person’s participation where reasonably necessary for operational or safety reasons. By attending an event, you agree that:
-
You attend voluntarily and at your own risk.
-
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for personal injury, loss, or damage to property arising from your attendance, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
-
Where alcohol is available at an event, it is supplied by the venue or a licensed third party, not by us, and attendees must drink responsibly. Proof of age may be requested at any time.
-
Photographs and recordings may be taken at events and may be used for social media, the Website and promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please tell the event host on arrival and we will take reasonable steps to respect your request. Our use of your image is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
12. Intellectual Property
All content and materials that form part of the Service, including the name Cocktail & Book Club, our logos, branding, design, text, graphics and software, are owned by or licensed to ALEX LATTE LTD and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may use them only as needed to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use them for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. This does not affect your ownership of your own User Content.
13. Third-Party Links, Services and Collaborations
The Service may include links to, or collaborations with, third-party brands, venues, publishers, authors and partners, and may rely on third-party services to operate. We are not responsible for the content, products, actions or policies of third parties, and any mention of a partner or product is for community and event purposes only. Your dealings with any third party are between you and that third party.
14. Availability of the Service
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. We may suspend, withdraw, or change all or part of the Service for operational, legal or business reasons, and we will give reasonable notice where we can. We may also stop offering the Service, or a particular tier or feature, at any time.
15. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
-
We provide the Service on an “as available” basis and make no guarantees about event content, availability or continuity.
-
We are not liable for any loss or damage that is not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
-
Where we are found liable to you, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or £100.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services that are not carried out with reasonable care and skill, and to goods that are faulty or not as described. Advice about your legal rights is available from your local Citizens Advice or Trading Standards office, and nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
16. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or unlawfully, you agree to be responsible for any reasonable losses, costs or claims we incur as a direct result, to the extent permitted by law. This does not apply to anything caused by our own breach or negligence.
17. Privacy
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand what we collect, why, and your rights.
18. App Store Terms
Where you download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following additional terms apply.
-
These Terms are between you and ALEX LATTE LTD only, and not with Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are solely responsible for the App and its content.
-
Apple and Google have no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for the App, and no responsibility to address any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar law.
-
Your use of the App must comply with the applicable app store’s terms of service and usage rules.
-
Apple and its subsidiaries, and Google and its subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they relate to your use of the App, and each may enforce these Terms against you as such.
-
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a relevant government embargo and that you are not on any relevant restricted-party list.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our operations, or the law. When we do, we will post the updated Terms with a revised effective date, and where the changes are significant we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and you benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of that country. Otherwise, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
21. Contact
